How to Pick a Quinny Baby Stroller
Looking for the
ideal Quinny stroller is harder than it looks, with all
of the excellent choices out there. Here are some
guidelines that might help.
Less than 6 months
old? It takes a while for a baby's neck area to be
strong enough to support itself, so remember that upright
strollers are not advisable. That's why at the early stages,
you will need a stroller that is specific to newborns, or you
can get one of those models where you can attach infant seats
or bassinets. You can also get one of these newborn inserts
that holds the child more securely in the stroller. Also
remember that at this early stage, try not too jar the baby too
much while in the stroller, so no jogging while pushing the
stroller please! Once babies are over six months old, you will
have much more options in terms of shopping for a
stroller.
Will you use it
a lot?
If you know you will be using this daily and often, then you
need to focus on ease of use and how comfortable it will be to
push around. Long walks will be much more enjoyable for you and
the baby if you picked a nice, rolling stroller. It will be
tough to judge this aspect of it if you are buying online, so
try to go through various reviews on how a stroller pushes or
handles, before you decide to buy it.
In general, the larger
the wheels, the easier it is to push. Rubber wheels mean better
handling. If it has springs or shock absorbers, that
means you will have a smoother ride. Sometimes it feels like
you are buying a car! If you do not plan to use it for long
strolls frequently, then a really smooth ride is not as
important.
How many
pounds?
A good quality light stroller weighs about 8 pounds. For the
full sized and full-featured models, expect more than 25
pounds! Keep this in mind in terms of the lifting you will need
to do up and down the stairs, or in and out of you
vehicle. If your lifestyle tends to be towards frequent use,
then it's really important to weigh the must-have features
versus the weight it will add to the
stroller.
A basic rule of thumb
is the lighter the stroller, the fewer features it will have
and the less smooth the ride. These lighter models also tend to
have less comfort level in terms of seating. They will also
have less seating adjustments such as reclining angles. On the
positive side, these lighter models are great if you are
traveling frequently or you do a lot of daily errands with the
baby.
If you can find a
full-featured standard stroller that is less than 20 pounds,
and the weight is comfortable for you, get it!
For the all-terrain (aka jogger models), you can get them at
weights below 20 pounds. In addition to the weight factor, also
check how the stroller folds and make sure it's not to bulky so
you can move in and out of your car with
ease.
What features
should I look for? The most common are as
follows: Reclining seats : some
models are really easy to adjust and gives you a lot of
angles.
Adjustable handles : make sure you can adjust the
handles so that it matches your height, as this will make it
more comfortable to push around.
Reverse
handles : this lets you see your baby as you are
pushing, a very nice feature to have.
Cupholders : it's a
nice-to-have but not a must-have since you can always purchase
separately.
Storage
basket : the more storage space you have, the better
it is for carrying your stuff(i.e. diapers, bottles,
snacks).
Canopy
: important for sun protection and the bigger it is, the better
for your baby.
Five-point
harness : this is a must have for
safety.
Adjustable leg
rest : this makes the stroller more comfortable as
your child grows.
Toy bars or
grab bars : this holds the toys in front of your baby
and keeps them amused and while you
stroll.
Lastly, for the joggers
among you, consider buying a jogger model, also known as a
jogging stroller. These strollers have become more common
recently, as more folks are getting more health conscious.
These models usually have large tires which means you get a
smoother ride over rough surfaces. Yo do not need to be a
jogger to benefit from this. Jogger models also have these
handlebars which are also specially designed to allow you to
hold on as you jog behind the stroller. Your baby may not be
getting any exercise while you run, but they will
definitely have a more enjoyable
ride!

Quinny 2010 Zapp 4 Travel System
***** Five stars by Danielle
The travel system is wonderful. The company ran out of the
stroller, so they called to tell us that they would be sending
the car seat early and the stroller a
couple of weeks later. The company
salesperson was awesome (I think his name was Gabriel).
He spoke with my mom and me on 3-way and discussed the
situation and followed-up by
calling both of us back individually to confirm that we
had the tracking # for the remaining shipment once it was
ready to be shipped.
Although my baby
hasn't arrived yet (due in aug). We have already attempted to
strap the car seat in to my SUV. Did it with no problem and the
stroller was easy to put together
as well. If you can afford it... buy it. You will like it and
it is really cute. I will say that the diaper bag is not a
diaper bag as much as it is a
simple carring bag, but it is a cute addition that is
fashionable :-)

I absolutely love this seat! I have 3 car seats in the back of
a sedan and this made it so much easier to fit them all
CORRECTLY! My 2 year old loves it. He can hop in and out himself and it doesn't sit so high
that his head gets bumped getting in an out like in the Britax.
He hates sitting in the Britax now! I'm
getting ready to buy another one
and can see this being the only car seat I buy anymore!
It's a little on the heavy side but it's not that bad and
it's not huge and bulky like
other seats and a little weight lifting never hurt
anyone!
Quinny Buzz
3-Wheel Stroller ***** Five stars by K. Lee
We recently purchased and have been happily using the Quinny
Buzz Stroller. After looking at many strollers (bugaboo,
stokke, peg perego, etc) we chose the quinny. We have also previously owned, Aprica,
Macleren, Graco and Peg Perego strollers. We love how it
unfolds at a touch (safety band prevents accidental
unfolding) and it is by far the smoothest
stroller on all kinds of terrain, from your neighborhood
sidewalk to traversing across a grassy park. I
personally love the way it looks
and it doesn't have the strolling spectacle flavor of say the
stokke. I also was concerned about the ease of use and
unfolding/folding because of
earlier reviews on the the Quinny. However, this must have been
a problem that was worked on by the manufacturer, as we find
the quinny extremely simple to
use, and although folding does require a bit of strength, once
you get used to it you know exactly where and how to push down
so that it folds quite easily. The
only major flaw I found and to me it's literally a "massive"
flaw, is that it is so HUGE when it is folded. It is so big it
will undoubtedly take up most of
your vehicle's trunk as it does ours. We have the Audi Q7, and
we cannot use half of the third row if we want to fit the
stroller in back. Our Peg Perego
and Macleren both fit very nicely. A secondary flaw is the
short sun-shade, which the manufacturer somewhat compensates
for by providing a zip-in
windshield. Our stroller came with a basket which I believe is
new, as older reviews talked about the lack of a basket and
constantly kicking a bag that
attached to the rear. The basket though not huge is adequate
for us and we can easily fit a 12"x10"x5" diaper bag in it with
some extra bottles of water. In
conclusion, if you can handle the large size and weight, it is
indeed an excellent and very stylish stroller that works well
in all conditions.

Spent hours at a store and then found this stroller.
We spent 3 hours at Babies R Us trying out strollers which
claim to be 1 hand opening (they do if you are willing to throw
your shoulder out in the process).
I was seriously
thinking I would never find something I liked. Then we found
this fantastic stroller at another store. They had just gotten
them in, 2008 was the first year
they were carried in the US. When they showed us that it opens
by itself - I was sold!(The company website has a video too).
We did not get the bassinet, save
your money and just use the carseat adapters and get the
maxi-cosi seat that goes with it (I think it has adapters for
some other brands as well). This
has been the perfect mix of urban and trail stroller - it
handles well on the brick sidewalks near us when most
non-jogging strollers do not, and
it works well on dirt trails. Our son actually fell asleep on
one particularly bumpy trail. We have had so many comments on
our stroller. The microfiber cover
and memory foam seem really comfortable. The basket is roomier
than it looks and we attach our diaper bag to the sides of the
handle with velcro straps. We
bought the Joovy brand parent tray that is made of neoprene and
slipped it on the handle and it works fine for holding bottles,
keys, etc. It does tend to be a
bit wide in tight store aisles but it manuevers with one hand
and it's other features make up for it. We've gotten one flat
tire in 15 mos and I just took it
to the bike shop and had them fix it rather than doing it
myself. Whether you get this stroller or another - invest in
it.
Don't just buy the cheapest
stroller, the better strollers can make things so much easier.
I think the '09 version of this stroller has the improvement of
a self-locking mechanism which is
the only thing I would change on our '08.
